Compass App in iPad User Guide for iOS 10

I just downloaded and read the new iPad User Guide for iOS 10 from Apple (iBook). And there on page 369 I found a description of the Compass App. It starts with : Open Compass in the Extras Folder...

There is no Extras Folder on my iPad Pro 9.7 inch (WiFi). I have updated to iOS 10.0.1.

There is no such mention of the Compass app in the iOS 9.3 Guide for iPad. So this is new to me.

Is this a mistake in the guide or can we expect this in the next upgrade?

I always thought it only worked on an iPhone.

I do have a commercial compass app on my iPad and that works OK.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

i Am honestly wondering if that's a mistake. I've had an iPad for years and never had a compass. I do think it's on the iPhone tho.

I just went to look at the manual and that first page is 'gone' as in inaccessible, so I wonder if we look back later if the online manual is edited to remove the mention of the compass

One other idea, I wonder if this is a cellular only thing? Because, using wifi, a compass would be pretty useless without triangulation, which you can't get from wifi. But can using cell towers.

There is no mention of cellular or WiFi in the description of the compass. If it only works on cellular they should have said so. And on page 371 there is a description of "On the level" with a drawing that shows an iPad.
